Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food that was free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who often was a drinker and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her area and started the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
