Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964, is an American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she was an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
